Results are interpreted by comparing individual performance against the average, minimum and maximum scores on each of the 22 ratios. While no one ratio result in isolation would be expected to be significant, taken in groups such as Finance the results will highlight areas where your performance differs significantly from the group.
The following is an extract from a fictional pharmaceutical company showing how they performed on five key ratios against 11 other bulk pharmaceutical companies.
An Example: Work Planning & Control Ratios

From this example, which is based on real figures supplied by Irish pharmaceutical factories, you can see that Acme Pharmaceuticals (not a real company) is below average in the level of work scheduled and in the number of jobs completed per craftsman each week. Food for thought.
But, if you look more closely, you can also see that the best results among the other companies include an unplanned work level at 12%, a 90% level of work scheduling, 95% adherence to schedule and an average recorded of 50 jobs per craftsman each week.
If this is what Acme’s competitors in the same industry can achieve, why can’t they? Food for thought, indeed.ments required are available here.
